Tottenham Condemns Racist Abuse Towards Destiny Udogie After Victory Against Liverpool

Tottenham Football Club has issued a firm condemnation of the racist abuse aimed at their defender, Destiny Udogie, on social media platforms following their 2-1 victory against Liverpool at home on Saturday.

In an official statement, Tottenham expressed their profound dismay at the racist messages directed toward Destiny Udogie on social media after the match against Liverpool. They stood firmly in support of Udogie and pledged to collaborate with the Premier League, taking necessary actions against individuals if they can be identified.

Destiny Udogie, who was signed by Tottenham in August 2022 from Udinese and subsequently loaned back to Udinese for the 2022-23 season, has been an integral part of Tottenham’s impressive unbeaten start to the season. He has featured in all seven Premier League games under manager Ange Postecoglou.

Kick It Out, an anti-discrimination charity, expressed its shock and disapproval at the targeting of Udogie. Troy Townsend, head of player engagement at Kick It Out, emphasized that no level of controversy or emotional intensity surrounding a game justifies such abhorrent outbursts.

Townsend underscored the urgent need to hold accountable those responsible for this ongoing issue of players being racially abused on social media after matches. He called on social media companies to address this problem with the seriousness it demands and reported several incidents of racist abuse against Udogie to relevant authorities.
