Federal Government and NESG Join Forces to Transform Water Sector

The Federal Government (FG) is reaffirming its commitment to collaborate with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) to advance the Water Resources and Sanitation Sector

This is according to a statement by Funmi Imuetinyan, Head of Press and PR at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation. During a meeting on September 20, 2023, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, the Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, emphasized the importance of private sector involvement in achieving the Ministry’s goals and commended NESG for its contributions to Nigeria’s development.

Prof. Utsev pledged close cooperation with NESG to expedite the implementation of the Water Resources and Sanitation mandate in alignment with the current administration’s agenda.

Dr. Tayo Aduloju, the team lead, highlighted the historical significance of the summit in driving transformation in Nigeria, including major initiatives like GSM introduction, pension reform, maritime sector liberalization, and various development plans.

Dr. Aduloju affirmed the private sector’s readiness to work with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation to attract international investments and enhance the value of Water Resources as an asset.

Mr. Gabriel Ekanem, Thematic Head for Water and Sanitation at NESG, explained NESG’s past collaborations with the Ministry, covering areas such as water supply, data collection, the Water Resources master plan, and regulatory frameworks for Water Resources Management.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including Permanent Secretary Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, OON, mni, and several Ministry Directors.
