On Sunday, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State issued a curfew directive for the local government areas of Orolu and Irepodun.
This action was taken in response to a communal clash that had erupted due to a land dispute between Ilobu and Ifon, two communities situated within these specific council areas.
The imposition of the curfew was officially announced by the Osun Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, acting on behalf of the Governor. The primary objective of this curfew is to restore law and order in the wake of the communal conflict.
As stated in the official announcement, the curfew will be enforced nightly, commencing at 8 pm and concluding at 6 am the following morning. It is important to note that, during the curfew hours, both human and vehicular movement will be restricted until further notice.
The announcement also carries a stern warning that individuals found roaming or attempting to move around within the boundaries of Irepodun and Orolu local governments during the curfew period will be subject to arrest and subsequent legal action.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, in his message, appealed for peace between the two affected local governments. He emphasized the importance of upholding the core values of Peace, Love, and Unity for which Osun State is renowned.
