Ondo State’s Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has unequivocally asserted that there exists no conflict or discord between him and the Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Aiyedatiwa has firmly stated that the rumors circulating on social media, perpetuated by anonymous individuals and groups, are a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation.
This resounding declaration was made in an official statement released by his Press Secretary, Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson, in Akure, the state’s capital, on Tuesday.
Aiyedatiwa elucidated his stance, saying, “The spurious claims might have been disregarded, but I consider it my responsibility to prevent the public from falling prey to the same fabrications repeatedly regurgitated by those with ulterior motives, who perceive me as a threat to their political interests.”
He went further to assert that these faceless entities, who have concealed their identities, are likely being sponsored by those who feel threatened by his prominent role as the Deputy Governor, his close working relationship with the Governor, and his popularity among the people.
Aiyedatiwa stressed that these allegations are part of an ongoing smear campaign initiated by the same group several months ago. He explained that this campaign involved the dissemination of false narratives through certain media outlets to besmirch his reputation. However, as these falsehoods failed to produce the desired outcomes, the perpetrators have now resorted to fabricating stories of disloyalty in a bid to create discord between him and the Governor.
He pointed out that his handling of state affairs as Acting Governor received accolades from many stakeholders, despite the provocations and attempts to push him into taking rash actions. Aiyedatiwa clarified that he maintained continuous and open communication with the Governor on official state matters, ensuring a seamless working relationship between them.
Aiyedatiwa concluded by reiterating his unwavering loyalty to Governor Akeredolu and emphatically stated, “NOBODY has been engaged or consulted by me to speak, write, or act against Governor Akeredolu.”
