Oyo State Governor Makinde Declares August 20th as Isese Day Public Holiday

In the wake of plea from Traditional religion worshippers in Oyo State to declare a public holiday to mark Isese day, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially designated the 20th of August each year as Isese Day, a significant occasion in the state’s calendar. This announcement was made by Governor Makinde on Friday.

Acknowledging the wishes of the traditional religion followers, Governor Makinde has granted their request by declaring Monday, August 21, 2023, as the inaugural public holiday dedicated to commemorating Isese Day.

Moreover, Governor Makinde emphasized that moving forward, every 20th of August will be observed as a public holiday to honor Isese Day in the state. This decision was communicated through an official statement signed by Professor Olanike Adeyemo, the Secretary to the Oyo State Government.

Governor Makinde encouraged practitioners of the traditional religion across the state to utilize this special occasion as an opportunity to offer prayers for the peace, unity, and stability of not only the state but also the entire nation.
