Niger Coup Leader Agrees to ECOWAS Dialogue Following Talks with Islamic Scholars

Following a meeting between Niger Republic’s coup leader, General Abdourahmane Tchiani, and Nigerian Islamic Scholars led by Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), an agreement has been reached for General Tchiani to enter into discussions with ECOWAS.

Niger Republic’s Prime Minister, Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine, confirmed that General Tchiani has given the green light for dialogue with ECOWAS and expressed optimism that these talks will commence in the coming days.
