Nigeria Bows Out as England Claims Quarter-Final Berth in Women’s World Cup

On Monday, England emerged victorious against Nigeria in a penalty shootout, triumphing 4-2.

This victory propelled England into the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Cup after their last-16 match concluded in a 0-0 draw at the end of extra time.

Unfortunately, Nigeria’s journey in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup came to an end with a 4-2 penalty shootout loss to England on Thursday. The round of 16 encounter remained goalless throughout the regular and extra time periods at Brisbane Park.

Despite Lauren James’ expulsion during the standard play, European champions England advanced to the quarter-finals thanks to Chloe Kelly’s decisive penalty.

England will now face the quarter-final challenge against either Colombia or Jamaica.
