The Zamfara State Government has approved the swift distribution of food supplies across all 14 Local Government Areas in response to the Federal Government’s removal of fuel subsidies.
The decision aims to alleviate the impact of the increased petrol pump prices on the people. The announcement was made by Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson to the State Governor, who emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the current challenges in the country.
Governor Dauda Lawal sanctioned the distribution of food items, including Rice and Maize, among others, as immediate palliatives to mitigate the hardships caused by the subsidy removal. The distribution process will be overseen by a non-partisan high-powered committee to ensure fairness and reach the needy across Zamfara.
The Zamfara State Government believes that these palliatives will significantly cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal. Additionally, the government plans to introduce further measures to support the citizens during this difficult period, with details to be announced in due course.
