Protesting members of the organized labour stormed the National Assembly on Wednesday, demanding to meet with former Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. Led by NLC President Joe Ajaero and TUC President Festus Osifo, they first requested the security operatives to open the gate for them to express their grievances. When this request was not met, they forcefully entered the premises by pulling down the first gate and proceeding to the second gate of the Assembly Complex. The Senate responded by holding a closed-door session and forming a three-man committee, including Ali Ndume, Ireti Kingibe, and Tony Nwoye, to address the protesters. The protesters, chanting solidarity songs, insisted on seeing Oshiomhole, who had previously served as NLC president and later became the Edo State Governor before winning the Edo North senatorial seat in the National Assembly in 2023.
