The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has disbanded its executive committees in seven states due to anti-party activities. They have also suspended their Enugu State governorship candidate, Cajetan Eze, and the senatorial candidate for Enugu North, Professor Onyeka A. Onyeka.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Major Agbo, announced this decision at a press conference held in Abuja. The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) decided to postpone further action until after the upcoming governorship election in Imo State and Local Government elections in Oyo State, where serious petitions were received.
During this period, the vacant positions in Imo State will be filled in accordance with the party’s Constitution. The states where the executives were dissolved are: Enugu, Ekiti, Rivers, Niger, Katsina, Kaduna, and Zamfara.
