Ondo State Sends Bill to Assembly to Establish 33 New Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs)

The Ondo State Government plans to establish 33 new Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state, as revealed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju.

The state executive council has already given its approval for the creation of these LCDAs, which aims to enhance decentralization and governance at the grassroots level. Currently, there are 18 statutory local council areas in the state, and with the implementation of this proposal, the total number of councils will increase to 51 pending approval from the state legislature.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Charles Titiloye, explained that the new LCDAs will have similar functions as the existing 18 councils. The government has taken the necessary steps to enact the enabling law for establishing these new LCDAs by forwarding it to the state House of Assembly.
