On Sunday, Alex Telles bid farewell to Manchester United and joined Saudi Arabian team Al Nassr, reuniting with his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Telles becomes the latest prominent player from a major European club to make a move to the Gulf state, enticed by the lucrative Saudi Pro League.

The Brazilian left-back spent the previous season on loan at Sevilla and during his three-year stint at Old Trafford, he made 50 appearances for Manchester United. Now, at the age of 30, he will once again join forces with Portugal’s star striker, Ronaldo, at Al Nassr, following Ronaldo’s contentious departure from United the previous year.

In an official statement, Manchester United confirmed Telles’ permanent transfer to Al Nassr, expressing gratitude for his contributions to the club during his time with them and extending their best wishes for his future endeavors.

Telles faced difficulties securing a regular spot in Manchester United’s starting lineup after his £13.6 million move from Porto in 2020. However, he showcased his talents during his time at Sevilla, where he played a pivotal role in helping the Spanish club win the Europa League last season.

This move to Al Nassr aligns with the surprising trend of high-profile players choosing Saudi Arabia as their destination. Real Madrid’s French striker Karim Benzema recently departed for Al-Ittihad, and several other Premier League stars have also made their way to the Gulf state.
