Manchester City have reached an agreement with Al-Ahli for the transfer of Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez, in a deal worth £30 million.
As part of the agreement, the 32-year-old has been granted permission to skip Manchester City’s pre-season tour to Japan and South Korea.
This arrangement had already been established, contingent on City receiving a bid that matched their valuation of Mahrez, who had two years remaining on his contract.
City initially acquired Mahrez for £60 million in 2018, and he contributed 15 goals in 47 games last season, aiding the team in winning the Treble.
However, despite his contributions, Mahrez remained an unused substitute during both the FA Cup and Champions League finals. As a result, manager Pep Guardiola has made the decision to allow him to join the growing list of high-profile signings by a team in the Saudi Pro-League.
