A tragic incident unfolded in Lagos State as an unidentified female hawker was tragically killed after being struck by a fully loaded diesel tanker carrying approximately 60,000 litres of fuel. The incident occurred on the Otedola Bridge in the direction of the Berger area of Lagos State.
It was initially reported the incident, stating that the tanker, registered with the license plate GME 483XD, not only caused the death of the pedestrian hawker but also went on a destructive spree due to brake failure. It collided with three other vehicles that were traveling along the same route.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed the details of this unfortunate event that took place on a Saturday. He provided a comprehensive account of the sequence of events leading up to the accident, identifying brake failure in the fully loaded tanker as the cause of the incident while it was in motion.
