Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given his seal of approval to Arsenal’s impressive £105 million deal to secure the services of Declan Rice from West Ham.
The Gunners had initially faced setbacks with two unsuccessful bids for Rice, who also attracted a £90 million offer from Manchester City.
However, Arsenal’s persistence paid off as their third offer for the talented English midfielder was accepted. At just 24 years old, Rice becomes Mikel Arteta’s third signing of the summer, joining the likes of Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber.
When asked about Rice in an interview with Eurosport, Wenger described the signing as a shrewd investment.
He praised Arsenal’s decision to bring in players who are not only experienced and mature at 23 and 24 years old but also have significant potential for future development. Wenger believes that these acquisitions will enable the team to build a strong core that can stay together and thrive for years to come.
