Ondo State Government Establishes Committee to Alleviate Economic Impact of Fuel Subsidy Removal
In response to the removal of fuel subsidies and the resulting economic challenges faced by residents, the Ondo State Government has taken proactive measures. A press briefing held after the State Executive Council meeting revealed the formation of a nine-member committee on palliative care. This committee will focus on alleviating the economic burdens on vulnerable individuals across the state’s 18 local government areas. The decision to establish the committee stems from the recognition of the hardships caused by the fuel subsidy removal. The initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s request for N500 billion for nationwide palliative measures, which received approval from the National Assembly. The appointed committee will devise and implement strategies to ensure the essential support reaches the most vulnerable segments of society.
