Senate Approves President Tinubu’s Service Chief Nominations

The Nigerian Senate officially approved the appointments of the Service Chiefs, which were submitted to the Senate by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for necessary legislative action.

The confirmation process took place after the nominees underwent screening by the Committee of the whole, presided over by Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabío. Earlier in the day, the nominees were required to introduce themselves following the Chamber’s protocol.

During the session, the Senators held a closed-door meeting at approximately 11:00 am to engage in discussions on security-related matters with the nominees. Following three hours of deliberation, the Senate reconvened at around 3:00 pm to commence the confirmation proceedings.

Through a voice vote, the Senate confirmed the following Service Chiefs: Major General Christopher G Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General T.A Lagbaja as the Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla as the Chief Naval Staff, and Air Vice Marshal H. B. Abubakar as the Chief of Air Staff.
