Corinthians, a football club in Brazil, has strongly condemned the “cowardly” actions of fans who assaulted their midfielder, Luan, at a hotel.

Media reports indicate that angry supporters, unhappy with Luan’s performances, dragged him out of the building. Luan, whose contract with the club expires at the end of the season, shared a distressing photo on Instagram showing his clothes stained with blood.

Expressing sadness and indignation, Corinthians released a statement denouncing the alleged fans’ violent behavior. The club expressed deep concern over the prevailing intolerance in Brazilian soccer and stressed that no justification exists for such a cowardly assault on the athlete.

Local sources report that Luan suffered minor injuries during the incident, which occurred at a party he was hosting at the hotel on Tuesday. Despite being previously linked with Liverpool and having won an Olympic gold medal at Rio 2016, the 30-year-old midfielder has struggled to secure regular playing time in the last two seasons, scoring 11 goals in 80 matches for Corinthians.

Corinthians, renowned as one of the prominent names in Brazilian club football, has faced difficulties this season, culminating in their early elimination from the Copa Libertadores group stage, a rare occurrence in the club’s history.
