Real Madrid Announces Loan Capture of Spain Striker Joselu from Espanyol

On Monday, Real Madrid officially announced that they have secured the services of Joselu, a Spanish forward, on a loan deal from Espanyol, a team that was relegated, for the upcoming season.

The Club statement reads: “Real Madrid C. F. and R. C. D. Espanyol de Barcelona have reached an agreement for the loan of the player Joselu, who will play for the club for the next season, with an option to buy at the end of the season.”

The arrival of Joselu, a 33-year-old forward, will be a significant boost for Real Madrid’s attack, which has been weakened due to the departures of Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio, and Mariano Diaz. Joselu has already proven his scoring prowess by netting three goals in four international appearances for Spain.

Joselu has had an extensive career, having played for 10 different clubs across Spain, Germany, and England. He had a previous stint with Real Madrid’s B team and made a single appearance for the senior team in the 2010-2011 season.

Despite Espanyol’s relegation, Joselu had an impressive season and finished as the third top scorer in La Liga, finding the net 16 times. His performance earned him a call-up to the Spanish national team squad for the Nations League final four.

He made a crucial impact in the semi-final against Italy, scoring a last-minute winner, and also made a substitute appearance in the final against Croatia, contributing to Spain’s victory in the Netherlands.

“Joselu will be unveiled as a new Real Madrid player on Tuesday 20 June at 11am at Real Madrid City,” the Club statement added.
