Hon. Madami Garba Madami, the elected representative for Chikun State constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, has sadly passed away. According to reports, he succumbed to an undisclosed illness on Saturday morning at a hospital in Kaduna.
Despite receiving his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the general election, Hon. Madami was unable to attend the State Assembly’s inauguration on June 13, 2023, due to his illness, which eventually led to his untimely death.
Mourners who visited his family residence in Barnawa expressed deep sorrow, describing his demise as painful and unfortunate. They offered heartfelt prayers for his soul to find eternal rest.
Prior to his election, Hon. Madami served as the chairman of Chikun local government council and held a position as a former Commissioner in the State. He contested and emerged victorious against the incumbent lawmaker of the Chikun constituency in the State Assembly elections held on March 18, 2023, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Rt. Hon. Umar Yakubu Barde, a significant figure in the local political scene representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, and Hon. Ishaku Chawaza, a former member of the State House Assembly representing Chikun constituency, both expressed their profound grief over the loss of the lawmaker-elect. They praised his character as a gentleman and a dedicated party member, while praying for his soul and offering support to those affected by his passing.
