Brighton have announced the acquisition of James Milner from Liverpool on a free transfer. The 37-year-old former midfielder for the England national team has agreed to a one-year contract with the option to extend for another 12 months at the Amex Stadium.
Manager Roberto De Zerbi expressed his excitement about the signing, stating, “I’m delighted to welcome James to Brighton. He is a fantastic addition to our team, and I’m confident that he will contribute to taking us to an even higher level.”
Milner, who began his professional career at Leeds and has also played for Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Manchester City, enjoyed a successful eight-year tenure at Anfield, securing numerous trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League.
Following the expiration of his contract with Liverpool, Milner will officially join Brighton on June 30, bringing valuable experience to their squad as they prepare for their inaugural Europa League campaign.
