Bandits have carried out a deadly attack in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, resulting in the killing of 15 farmers and the abduction of numerous individuals, including women and girls, from different communities.
A community leader, speaking anonymously for security reasons, expressed concerns about the increased intensity of bandit attacks in the area and called for the assistance of the state government and security agencies to alleviate the suffering of the affected communities.
Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, representing Niger East Senatorial District, confirmed the attack and expressed his worry about the resumption of bandit attacks in several local government areas within his constituency. He expressed confidence in the government’s ability to address the situation.
Meanwhile, The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the attack but could not provide an exact casualty figure. Collaborative efforts between the police and the military have been initiated to restore normalcy in the affected areas, including Yakila, Tegina, Kagara, Pandogari, and Kusherki.
