The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Led by President Comrade Joe Ajaero and representatives of the federal government are currently engaged in a meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja, the NLC arrived at the villa this evening to continue discussions on the appropriate measures that should be taken to cushion the effect of Fuel Subsidy removal.

This meeting comes after the NLC boycotted a previous meeting with the government due to President Bola Tinubu’s announcement on the removal of subsidy, which led to price hikes in fuel, goods, and services.

The Organised Labour had initially met with the government team last week, but the discussions ended without a resolution and were rescheduled for Sunday. However, the NLC refused to attend the Sunday meeting, alleging that they were caught off guard by the government’s introduction of a new price template for fuel.

The Organised Labour demanded a return to the previous pump price before engaging in meaningful negotiations.

The government team present at the meeting includes notable figures such as former governor Adams Oshiomhole, NNPCL’s GCEO Mele Kyari, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Hon. James Faleke, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment Kachollom Daju, among others.
