Ange Postecoglou, the current manager of Celtic, has agreed to take over as the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur on a two-year contract. The 57-year-old Australian, who recently completed his second season with Celtic, led the team to the Scottish title in both years and secured the domestic treble this season.

Tottenham has been in search of a new manager since Antonio Conte’s departure in March, with interim coaches Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason temporarily taking charge. The final details of the agreement are currently being finalized before an official announcement is made.

Before joining Celtic in 2021, Postecoglou’s European experience was limited to a brief spell as the manager of Greek lower league side Panachaiki in 2008. However, he boasts an impressive resume, having won domestic titles in Australia with South Melbourne and Brisbane Roar, as well as Japan’s top flight with Yokohama F Marinos. He also led the Australian national team to victory in the 2015 Asian Cup.

Postecoglou will be taking over a Tottenham side that finished eighth in the Premier League and will miss out on European competition for the first time in over a decade. He will become the club’s fourth permanent manager since Mauricio Pochettino’s departure in 2019, following in the footsteps of Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Antonio Conte.

During his time at Celtic, Postecoglou achieved remarkable success, winning five out of six possible trophies and reestablishing the club’s dominance in Scottish football. Despite initial doubts and skepticism, he has become highly regarded among Celtic fans for his astute recruitment and attacking brand of football.
