“Wolves’ Future Doesn’t Depend on Me,” says Head Coach Julen Lopetegui

Head coach Julen Lopetegui emphasized that the fate of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ future lies in the club’s plans to develop their squad during the upcoming summer.

Lopetegui successfully guided Wolves to Premier League safety after taking charge when the team was at the bottom of the table in November. However, due to the club’s financial situation, uncertainties surround Lopetegui’s own future.

He acknowledged his ambition while stating, “I am currently the coach of Wolves.”

The heavy 5-0 defeat against Arsenal on the final day of the season highlighted the need for investment in the squad to ensure progress next season, according to the former Spain and Real Madrid coach.

Nonetheless, Wolves face Financial Fair Play challenges and must generate profit from transfers to avoid exceeding a £105m loss over three years.

Lopetegui emphasized the importance of being truthful with the fans and addressing any problems faced, given the high demands of competing in the Premier League. He expressed hope that the necessary steps will be taken despite the financial difficulties, acknowledging that other teams face similar challenges.

Lopetegui stressed the importance of learning from the past to improve and work hard, acknowledging that while miracles may not be achievable, progress can be made by diligent efforts.
