On Saturday, a third group of Nigerian citizens stranded in Port Sudan were received by officials from the Nigerian government in Abuja.
The group, consisting mainly of women and children, included 131 individuals who arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 1:45 pm. Officials from the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission expressed confidence that the evacuation process would continue smoothly.
This latest arrival follows the arrival of the second batch of Sudanese evacuees on Friday, who arrived in Abuja on a Tarco Airline plane. The first group of evacuees arrived from the war-torn North African country on Wednesday, and more Nigerians are expected to be repatriated in the coming days through the efforts of four airlines: Air Peace, Max Air, Azman Air, and Tarco Aviation.
