The head of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dauda Biu, has condemned the recent attack on FRSC personnel and operational vehicles in Jos, Plateau State.
According to a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, Biu expressed his disappointment and concern over the attack, which he described as unnecessary and demoralizing to the FRSC officials who were performing their lawful duty of rescuing crash victims.
The attack occurred after a fatal crash involving a diesel tanker that killed 13 people and left 10 others injured.
Biu explained that two teams were dispatched to rescue the victims but were ambushed by sympathizers and suspected hoodlums who burned down a patrol vehicle and damaged an ambulance. Three FRSC operatives were also severely injured.
Biu sympathized with the victims of the crash and urged the public to refrain from further attacks on FRSC personnel and facilities. He also praised the quick response of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for restoring order in the area.
