Leicester City’s Center back Çağlar Söyüncü has agreed to join Atlético Madrid, a top team in Spain’s La Liga, as a free agent once his current contract expires this summer. The news was reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Söyüncü began his football journey in Altinordu FK’s youth academy and later moved on to Bursaspor in Turkey’s Super Lig in 2016. He quickly established himself as a dependable player with excellent defensive abilities and a knack for anticipating plays.
In 2018, Leicester City signed Söyüncü for a reported fee of £19 million, making him the most expensive Turkish defender ever. Since then, he has earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top defenders, praised for his solid tackling, aerial prowess, and composure in possession. Söyüncü has also been an integral part of the Turkish national team, earning over 30 caps since his debut in 2016.
According to reports, Söyüncü has signed a contract with Atlético Madrid that will keep him at the club until 2027.
