Barcelona and Inter Milan were linked with a swap deal in January involving midfielders Franck Kessie and Marcelo Brozovic. But the move did not materialise, as Kessie had no intention of leaving Camp Nou.
However, as we head towards the off-season, the prospects of a swap deal have been rekindled by both club, according to SPORT.
The Catalan outlet noted that Inter Milan’s technical secretary met with Barcelona officials a few days ago, discussing the possibility of signing a few of Barça’s outcasts. Except for Kessie, none of them truly fit the bill.
While it is unlikely Kessie would be open to a move away, having enjoyed a solid run of form in the second half of the season. But with Ilkay Gundogan linked with a move to Camp Nou and Xavi’s plans to deploy Lionel Messi as one of the interior midfielders, provided he returns, the Ivorian’s minutes could diminish.
