According to David Bernabeu Reverter on SPORT, Barcelona are likely to offer a two-year contract to Lionel Messi as they continue to lay the groundwork for his return from PSG in the summer.
Messi’s last deal before leaving Barcelona was reported to be worth approximately €100m-a-year gross.
However, with the financially-troubled club no longer in a position to offer such a mega salary, they could table a proposal worth a quarter of that sum, €25m per year gross, which would result in a net wage of just under €13m-a-year, close to what Robert Lewandowski nets.
Barça wish to hand Messi a contract that would keep him at the club until 2025. However, the report adds that there will be a clause for the player to leave in 2024 if he wants to.
