Travellers Face Delays and Disruptions Due to Aviation Workers’ Strike in Lagos

Aviation workers at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos State went on strike on Monday, blocking access roads to the international and domestic wings. As a result, there was severe traffic congestion on the Airport Road in Ikeja, causing significant delays for travellers trying to reach the airport.

The strike, which was announced by a coalition of aviation worker unions, including ANAP, NAAPE, NUATE, and ATSSSAN, was a response to the government’s failure to address their concerns about the national minimum wage, consequential adjustment, and working conditions.

FAAN’s NAIA chapter issued a statement on Monday advising travellers to make alternative plans to avoid missing their flights due to the strike. While the airport will remain open for operations, the authority warned that scheduled flight operations may be disrupted as a result of the industrial action. FAAN apologised for any inconvenience caused by the strike and expressed regret for the impact on travellers.
