Ahmed Usman Ododo, a former auditor general for local governments in Kogi State, has won the party’s (APC) gubernatorial primary poll, which was conducted in the State on Friday.
With a total of 78,704 votes, Ododo easily defeated six other candidates in the gubernatorial race and won the direct primary election.
On the night of the primary election, about seven additional candidates, including the state’s deputy governor Edward Onoja and Governor Yahaya Bello’s chief of staff Pharm. Mohammed Asuku, withdrew from the campaign for governor.
Mohammed Ozigi Salami, a fellow Egbira, was beaten by Ododo, who received 1,506 votes, while Smart Adeyemi, a senator for the Kogi West Senatorial District, received just 311.
On behalf of the panel’s chairman, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, Mr Ahmed Usman Ododo was proclaimed the victor of the gubernatorial primary election by Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, secretary of the Kogi State APC Primary Election Committee.
