On Wednesday, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) leadership instructed workers across the country to stage protests at all Central Bank of Nigeria offices from next week onwards, citing the current shortage of cash in the country as the reason.

During a press conference held in Abuja, NLC President Joe Ajaero explained that the apex bank had failed to provide cash to Nigerians despite the one week ultimatum given by the NLC. Therefore, the NLC had no choice but to direct workers to picket the bank’s offices.

The NLC had previously warned the CBN and commercial banks that failure to ensure the availability of naira notes to Nigerians would result in workers being instructed to stay at home.
