In the wake of a violent attack that claimed the lives of a police officer and ten other individuals, the Kaduna State government has enforced a 24-hour curfew in four communities located in the Zango-Kataf Local Government Area. The curfew has been implemented to enable soldiers to restore peace in the area, according to a statement made by Yabo Chris Ephraim, the Special Assistant (Media) to the executive chairman of the Zangon Kataf Local Government Council. The attack occurred on Saturday night and came just three days after the son of a pastor was shot dead and four others were abducted in the Karimbu-Kahugu community in Lere LGA.
As per reports from sources, the tragic incident started with a disagreement between a Fulani man and security personnel at a checkpoint in Ungwan Wakili, which resulted in the shooting of the Fulani man and a police officer. In the evening, things took a turn for the worse when a group of young individuals who were out fishing were attacked by a group of suspected Fulani terrorists, resulting in the death of one person.
The curfew affects four communities, namely Ungwan Juju, Mabuhu, Ungwan Wakili, and Zango Urban. Furthermore, another source has raised concerns that the Angwan Wakili, Angwan Juju, and Mabuhu communities located in Atyap chiefdom could also be under attack from suspected Fulani militia.
