The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is contesting a court ruling that orders it to allow individuals holding Temporary Voter Cards (TVCs) to vote in the upcoming Governorship/Assembly elections on March 18th. The ruling came from the Federal High Court in Abuja, which granted a request by plaintiffs Koforwola Olusegun and Wilson Allwell to permit TVC holders to vote instead of requiring them to have a Permanent Voter Card (PVC). INEC’s Chief Press Secretary, Rotimi Oyekanmi, confirmed that the body has received the lawsuit and stated that it intends to appeal the decision.

In a press release on Saturday, Oyekanmi noted that: “The Independent National Electoral Commission has been served a copy of the judgement delivered today by the Federal High Court, Abuja Division which ordered it to allow two Plaintiffs to vote with their TVCs. We will appeal it.”
