The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued Certificates of Return to the winners of the House of Representatives election held in Nigeria on February 25, 2023. INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, presented the certificates to the newly elected members at the National Collation Centre located in Abuja.
It was earlier announced by Yakubu on Saturday that winners had been declared for 423 legislative seats, and supplementary elections would be conducted in 46 other constituencies. Yakubu further revealed that out of the 360 seats in the House of Representatives, 325 were won by eight political parties.
According to Yakubu, the African Democratic Party won two seats, APC won 162, APGA won four, LP won 34, NNPP won 18, PDP won 102, SDP won two, and YPP won one seat. This means that the eight political parties mentioned earlier won all but 35 of the seats in the House of Representatives.
