Serie A top scorer Victor Osimhén said on Monday that he dreams of playing in the English Premier League.
The Nigerian striker, who won Italy’s Foreign Player of the Year award from the Foreign Press Association in Rome, said he wanted to give the Napoli fans the league title but said he was looking further ahead.
“Many people around the world consider the Premier League to be the best and strongest league.
“I’m in Italy’s Serie A, one of the best leagues in the world.
Of course, I’m working hard to achieve my dream of one day playing in the Premier League, but it’s a process and I want to keep the momentum going. ”
Osimhén joined Napoli from Lille in 2020.
He has scored 19 league goals this season as Napoli build a 15-point lead as they seek their first title since the era of Diego Maradona.
“As a footballer, when I arrive in Napoli, I love football even more, because they base their whole life on the game and on supporting the team,” he said.
“It’s a big mission for me to try to give them something to remember.”
Argentine legend Maradona led the club to just his two titles in 1987 and 1990.
“When you talk about Napoli, the first player that fans think of is Maradona.
“He’s done pretty well this season, but he doesn’t consider himself an icon until he hits his goals.
When asked about racism at stadiums, he called it a “nasty disease.”
“I have been racist abused twice and it’s a bad feeling .”
