Not less than three people were allegedly killed by suspected Fulani Herdsmen, while several others were badly injured after an attack on the agrarian community of Sobe in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
Reports claim that among people that were killed is a Pastor and two other workers who are working on the Pastor’s farm at the time of the attack. A community source told journalists that the latest attack was the fifth in the series of herdsmen attacks on the community since January, 2023, when the killer herders launched their first attack.
The efforts of Edo State Security Network to rescue the victims before they died was not only in vain but almost cost them their lives as the herdsmen numbering 40 open fire on the rescue team and most of them escaped with various degree of bullet injuries.
The community has since then called for the help of Edo State governor led by Governor Godwin Obaseki and Edo State commissioner of police and her sister agencies to tighten up security in the community to curb the killings.
