Tragic multiple accidents occurred on the Ogere stretch of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, resulting in the loss of three lives and severe injuries to three others. A spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, confirmed that the collision took place at 7:10 a.m. on Friday and involved a Toyota Hiace bus (MN A48 ZY), a Man diesel truck (ABC 682 ZW), and a Daf truck (T-3756LA).
According to Okpe, excessive speed was the primary cause of the accident, which resulted in a collision between the three vehicles while the Man diesel truck was executing a U-turn.
“A total of eight men were involved in the accident, three sustained injuries, two unhurt and unfortunately three persons in the bus were recorded killed,” she said.
According to the FRSC public education officer, the individuals who sustained injuries in the accident were taken to Victory Hospital located in Ogere, while the deceased victims were transported to FOS Morgue in Ipara. Additionally, the officer reported that the Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar, expressed sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives in the crash.
Furthermore, the officer shared that the sector commander emphasized the importance of defensive driving to the public, by advising them to anticipate the behavior of other drivers on the road and remain vigilant by adhering to traffic signs and signals.
