At a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, claimed that the presidential election held last Saturday was controversial and engineered to produce pre-determined results.

According to Obi, the election did not meet the necessary requirements and could not be considered credible. He argued that Nigerians were deprived of their true choice and pledged to seek justice through the courts. Obi, who is a former governor of Anambra State, stated that he was prepared to challenge the results until he was able to prove his argument.

“Labour Party won the election and I will prove it,” Obi said.

He also mentioned that, “I will challenge this rascality for the future of the country”.

The former governor emphasized the importance of the selection process for any position and expressed his belief that Nigeria needs to improve its process. Specifically, he questioned the process for the presidential election and stated that he has previously challenged and won several election results.

He plans to seek justice through the court system and is confident that he will be successful. When asked if he feels any pressure to stop challenging the status quo, he replied that he cannot be pressured to stop challenging what he sees as inappropriate or unjust.

“We have to go through this darkness. The structure of criminality can’t go out overnight.

“All we need to show is commitment and resilience. I will be at the forefront and will work through this darkness until daybreak,” Obi vowed.

According to a report from Zeewade, in the early hours of Wednesday, it was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, had won the 2023 presidential election. Tinubu, who previously served as the governor of Lagos State, secured victory by receiving 8,794,726 votes. This makes him the president-elect.
