The President of Nigeria, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has arrived in Lagos, to participate in the final leg of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally. Touching down at the National Stadium via a Leonardo AW139 helicopter from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Buhari was subsequently escorted to the 25,000-seat Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, where the rally is being held.

The President is lending his support to the APC’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima. Tinubu, who served as the Governor of Lagos from 1999 to 2007, secured the APC presidential nomination after garnering the most votes among 23 candidates in the party’s primary elections held in June 2022.

The Presidential Election, which is set to be held later this week on the 25th of February 2023, will see Nigeria elect its 6th President since the start of civilian rule in 1999. Among the major contenders, alongside Bola Ahmed Tinubu, are Peter Gregory Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Presidential Candidate of the NNDP, and Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the PDP.
