Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, alias Ayra Starr, a superstar singer-songwriter from Nigeria, has revealed that she was a model before Don Jazzy signed her to MAVINS Records.
The singer claimed in an interview with Hip TV on Friday that despite her hesitation to demonstrate her talent, her faith in God helped her gain widespread attention for her music career.
She stated that Don Jazzy, the head of Mavin Records, contacted her via Instagram’s direct message a short while after she released a freestyle video.
“I simply let God use me to show off his grace. I used to model because I needed to make some money for school, but I always believed that music would eventually emerge,” she stated.
“Music came into my life in a way that suggests that if I had not believed in God, it would not have happened. That day, I only shared a cover to Instagram, which I didn’t want to do.
“Something was telling me not to upload it, but I did so despite my objections that it was too ugly and too emotional and that I shouldn’t.
My record label CEO saw the video and immediately sent me a message saying, “Oh, come to the studio,” which is how I ended up where I am now.
