Despite Marcus Rashford’s impressive performance, his efforts were not enough to secure a victory for Manchester United in the first leg of their Europa League knockout round play-off against Barcelona. In a thrilling match at Camp Nou, Rashford scored his 22nd goal of the season to equalize after Marcos Alonso opened the scoring for Barcelona.
Rashford then helped United take the lead with a quick-thinking corner that resulted in an own goal from Jules Kounde. However, Barcelona managed to equalize with a fortuitous goal from Raphinha’s cross, which went through the box and into the bottom-left corner of the net. Although, both teams had opportunities to score, the match ended in a 2-2 draw, leaving everything finely poised ahead of the return leg next week.
