In Kogi State, Dangote Cement Plc graduated no fewer than 40 women in fashion design.

The Plant Director of Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana, Mr. JV Gungune, said during the program’s graduation ceremony on Thursday that the program’s goal was to aid the government in its efforts to create jobs.

The skill acquisition program, according to Mr. Gungune, is an additional method of generating employment for the people of Kogi State, even though the job creation scheme perfectly aligns with the company’s vision and goal.

Even as he urged them to make sure that the knowledge and tools provided by the corporation are used properly, the Plant Director stated the program’s beneficiaries should consider themselves fortunate to have been chosen and trained in the program.

The empowerment is one of many host community interventions being carried out by Dangote Cement Plc throughout Africa, according to Mr. Wakeel Olayiwola, Head of Social Performance at Dangote Cement Plc.

Mr. Olayiwola expressed confidence that the graduates will, through apprenticeship, establish a chain of succeeding graduates, improving the employment situation in the towns surrounding Kogi State.

Ten women were chosen from each of the communities of Oyo, Iwaa, Apata, and Obajana, which make up both the plant and the mining communities, according to General Manager of Special Duties, Mr. Ademola Adeyemi.

According to Mr. Adeyemi, the National Directorate for Employment and the skill program were working together (NDE).

Mr. Abubakar Zakari, the Kogi state coordinator for NDE, said the participants underwent extensive training for three months and thanked the firm for supporting the initiative, which he called admirable for women.

The corporation was praised by the traditional leaders of the various villages for what they called a significant initiative.

The Olu-Apata, Oba Dr. Frederick D.O. Balogun, expressed gratitude and promised that his community would continue to support the business.

The Bajana of Obajana Idowu Isenibi stated that the “pleasure of the community knows no bounds” and urged program participants to apply their newfound skills wisely.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Mrs. Titilayo Onimola, 33, praised Aliko Dangote, president of the Dangote Group, and prayed that God would continue to strengthen him and his enterprises.
